INTACS® Inserts are two curved, clear plastic segments that are implanted in the perimeter of the cornea to reduce nearsightedness (myopia) in patients with keratoconus. Intacs correct vision by flattening the cornea to refocus light rays and improve vision. Results of these implants will depend on the degree of Keratoconus in each individual. It was originally FDA approve for surgical treatment of mild myopia. Corneal implants are designed for long term vision correction. The procedure takes about 15 minutes and is done on an outpatient basis. Ideal candidate –

  • Age more than 21 yrs
  • Keratoconus patient whose vision is not improving with Glasses and Contact Lenses
  • Minimum Corneal Thickness of 450 micron
  • Clear Central Cornea
